March 26 is our History Connections Dinner and Lecture

Join us March 26, 2015 in the Faculty Dining Room for our History Connections Dinner and Lecture. Attendees can register starting at 6:30 p.m. with dinner following at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $30, which includes a tax-deductible $5 gift to the History Department.

Topic: Ernest Hemingway: A Typical Doughboy in World War I?
Presenter: Dr. Jennifer Keene, Professor and Chair of the History Department at Chapman University

Ernest Hemingway served in the Italian Red Cross, while the overwhelming majority of Americans served in the army in France. This lecture reinterprets Hemingway’s “atypical” wartime service as “typical,” revealing how closely his experiences mirrored those of millions of American men.
