Usually in winter, it’s easy to give in to the urge to sit on the sofa, watch Netflix and drink hot cocoa. That is great for a few days, until the cabin fever sets in! To avoid the winter blahs, we’ve selected three great events you won’t want to miss!

 

Saturday, January 31 – Lewis Flyers Basketball During Alumni Day

Enjoy free admission to the games plus free popcorn and giveaways for alumi. See the #1 ranked and undefeated Lewis Women’s Basketball team. (Watch their spotlight from January 21 on CBS Chicago News!) Celebrate the All-Decades (1970s) Women's Basketball Team and the All-Decades (1970s) Men's Basketball Team at halftime of the games.  Cheer for your Flyers with fellow alumni and the band, cheer team, dance team, and Bedcheck Charlie! Wednesday, February  4 – Awards Ceremony: President's 7th Annual Art Exhibition

This important juried exhibition hosted by the Department of Art and Design and sponsored by Brother James Gaffney, FSC, President of Lewis University, highlights the top artwork from Lewis students and alumni. The show will be on display from February 4-26. The awards will be given out on Feb. 4 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Wadsworth Family Art Gallery. Bonus: You can also join us on Thursday, February 12 from 3:00-4:00pm when a faculty member from the Art Department will lead patrons through the various works in the President's Art Show. February 13-15 and February 19-2 – Large cast world premiere of “Little Brother” at Lewis University’s Philip Lynch Theatre

“Little Brother,” a fast-paced techie-political adventure comes to Lewis University’s Philip Lynch Theatre (PLT). Based on the young adult novel by Cory Doctorow and adapted by Josh Costello, it is the show the San Francisco Bay Guardian called “the most exciting thing on stage” and “alive like few other productions.” The show is a near-future thriller, a teenage romance, and a frightening predictor of possibilities to come.
